Silhouette Art

It’s time to start adding some art to the walls. And what better way to fill your walls with personal art than to create it myself? I have done a couple of those Painting with a Twist parties, where you go take a painting class while drinking a bottle of wine. Needless to say, none of those pieces have been wall worthy. Maybe it is the wine or maybe it is the time constraints… Actually, I think I am just not a good artist, but that does not stop me from wanting to create. If you feel my flow, than this is the project for you. So simple a 5-year-old could do it, but looks totally professional. Here is how you do it…

Supplies

  • Camera
  • Printer (or have your pictures printed at a copy center)
  • 8.5″ x 11″ labels
  • Scissors
  • Canvas of your choosing
  • Paint (2 colors)

Directions

  1. Paint the canvas whatever color you want the silhouette to be and let fully dry.
  2. Take a picture in profile.
  3. Print profile picture on an 8.5” x 11” label (Available at office supply stores)
  4. Cut out the profile using fine tip scissors. Be sure to catch all of the details!
  5. Apply silhouette to the canvas.
  6. Paint over the sticker.
  7. Remove the ‘label stencil’ and let dry.
  8. Touch up the edges of the profile with base color of paint if needed.
